I saw what they called a 1974 Ih pickup today.   It was badged a "100 automatic".  I think it also said vee eight someplace.  It did have a v8 but not the 304 family.  The spark plugs were angled towards each other like a dodge rather than all ahead like the 304 family.  Did IH use some American motors engines for awhile?  It had coil springs.

Yes, IH used AMC 401 engines in their pickups and Travelalls in 1973 and early 74.  I've got one of those 401s....very fast engine!  Would sure like another!
